The points below are the ones that come up in the first conversation. Anything that depends on your order — the minimum, the lead time, the price — is quoted rather than published, because it moves with the fabric and the colour.

Fabric

Weight, stretch, hand feel and opacity. See the fabric library for what is available.

Colour

Dyed to a colour reference, or matched to a swatch you send. Colour cards from the range are available on request.

Print

All-over, placement or tie-dye, from your artwork.

Fit and size

Rise, inseam, waistband depth and the full size grade.

FabricWeight, stretch, hand feel and opacity. The same silhouette in two fabrics is two different products, so this is decided first.

ColourDyed to a colour reference, or matched to a swatch you send. Dyeing is the step that carries a minimum.

PrintAll-over print, placement print or tie-dye, worked from your artwork or from a reference.

Fabrics

What the fabric is specified in

Four parameters decide whether a legging feels right and stays opaque. They are agreed before sampling so the first sample is judged against a number rather than an impression.

CompositionSpecified per style rather than assumed, so a lighter or a recycled option is a choice rather than a surprise.

Weight in GSMGrams per square metre, chosen for the hand feel and the season the range is sold in.

Stretch and recoveryStretch direction and recovery are specified, because recovery is what stops a legging going baggy at the knee.

Opacity under stretchChecked under stretch against a contrasting background — in the lightest colour in the range, not in black.

Packing

Labels, tags and cartons

Finishing is where an order stops looking like a shipment and starts looking like a product on a shelf.

LabelsWoven main label, printed care and composition label, and the origin marking your market requires.

Hang tagsYour artwork, or a plain tag if the range is being tested.

Polybags and cartonsAssorted or solid colour, solid size, and a carton mark that matches what your warehouse expects to scan.

BarcodesApplied at the packing stage if you supply the numbers, so nothing is re-labelled on arrival.

Size grading

Graded, not scaled

The difference between a range that fits and a range that nearly fits is usually the block the sizes were graded from.

Graded from its own blockA plus-size range is not a straight range scaled up. Scaling is what makes a waistband roll and a fabric go thin over the hip.

Measurements, not labelsSize labels differ by market. The numbers that matter are the waist, hip and inseam a size actually finishes at.

Fit checked on a bodyA graded size set is worn before the run, not measured flat and assumed.

Consistent between ordersThe approved graded set is retained, so a repeat order is compared against it rather than against a memory.

Answered the same way here as they are by email — including the ones where the honest answer is that the number moves with the order.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We do not publish a minimum we cannot hold to. The floor is set by the fabric and the dye lot, so it moves with the colour and the style you choose. Tell us the style, the fabric and the quantity you have in mind and the minimum comes back with the quote.

Can you match a sample we already have?

Yes. Send the garment and we work from it: fabric weight, stretch, rise, inseam and size grade, followed by a wear-test piece before any production run.

Do you make tops and bras as well as leggings?

Yes. Leggings are the main line, with shorts, skirts, tanks, sports bras and matched sets made from the same fabrics so the range reads as one collection rather than a pile of separates.

How long does production take?

It depends on the fabric, the quantity and the season, so it is given per enquiry rather than published as a flat figure. The decisions listed above are the ones that move it most.

Can we use our own label and packaging?

Yes. Woven labels, printed care labels, hang tags and packaging are all part of private label production, and they are quoted with the garments rather than added afterwards.

How is opacity checked before a run?

The fabric is stretched as it would be worn and checked against a contrasting background in daylight. The check is done in the lightest colour in the range, because the fabric that passes in black is the one that fails in white.
